Description

So I've considered a great many potential titles for this particular piece:
viscera
twisted

but none of those titles really gets at what this piece is about.
It's more about the clay that made it.

Extruded dillo white clay. Wood Kiln fired.

Hand-built with extreme care and difficulty, this piece is more about the limits of what the clay can take. Getting clay to support itself in this shape when it's wet is... really difficult. Then I low fired it, and put it into a wood kiln, where it went through extreme stress (which is what warped it into it's non-square shape.) But it's still solidly together, in one piece. It's amazingly strong, even though when I pick it up to move it I can feel the loops shifting and grinding against each other.

Please pardon my crappy photography. I need to take better pics, but until I do...

From one Clay Artist to another ... Nice! ... at our clay arts guild we have a salt soda kiln, and I would love to see this refired in it with a shino ... *waves from Montana* :D
